The man purse is all good if you want to go fancy-schmancy, but for carrying more equipment plus a laptop, it doesn’t suffice. And maybe you don’t want to be so conspicuous.

Tenba DNA 15 Slim Messenger Bag to the rescue!

This messenger bag by Tenba is available in a deeper version, but I chose the slim one. The depth is fitting for two Leica M bodies with 35 mm lenses attached. For longer lenses, the dividers can be quickly folded over for a lens-down position of one camera. Plus, it takes a lot of extra lenses, even wider ones like the Canon FD f/1.2 85 mm. And an assortment of color filters for the M monochrom. And a SF 40 flash. And a Rocket blower. And a laptop up to 15″ MacBook Pro size. And an iPad regardless of size. And chargers for the computers and the cameras’ batteries. About as much weight as you can carry comfortably, given that it hugs you body closely.

One feature that is very important to me: it has an extra strap that goes off the main strap and crosses your chest the other way, attaching to a D-ring at the opposite bottom corner of the bag. When you’re wearing it on a bike or motorbike, as I do, this keeps the bag from rotating. It stays reliably in the small of your back. Very useful!

I can live with the utilitarian look.
